A graduate of The University of Mississippi, Dr. Matthew Simmons received his medical education at St. Matthews’ University School of Medicine in Grand Cayman, British West Indies. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, and then completed a Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Baton Rouge General.
Dr. Simmons is board-certified in Sports Medicine and Family Medicine and has experience serving as team physician for numerous schools, including Louisiana State University, Southern University and Parkview Baptist High School. He currently serves as a team physician for Reinhardt University.
Dr. Simmons is an active member of the American Association of Family Physicians and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. His special interests include the prevention, evaluation and treatment of sports injuries, minimally-invasive and non-operative treatment modalities, management of sports-related concussions and management of medical conditions in the athletic population.
